In Calais, a free workshop to play with Meccano

The children of Calais are lucky. They have a workshop to build toys unique in the world! Born from a partnership between the Calais town hall and the Meccano company, the Meccano Lab is a free space that welcomes children and adults to play.

Where is it ?

  • The Meccano Lab has opened its doors in the center of Calais; in the beautiful mansion of former Crédit Lyonnais, 52 bd Jacquard. Here, kids imagine their own toys using thousands of Meccano pieces for all ages. Adults also have their own corner to invent and have fun.

How is it ?

  • The space of 600 m2 welcomes families, but also recreation centers in the region and soon schools. It is divided into several workshops with the Mini Lab for 5 to 7 years who will play with the plastic ranges. More than 8 years old are welcomed in the Extra Lab to have fun with the metal parts. They try to reproduce models whose stages are illustrated in model or play freely, guided by animators trained by Meccano. View the slideshow
